The core mission of this project is to make people aware of the lessons from history.
When people repeat old hatreds with new slogans, or treat another group’s faith, race, or identity as less human, they are not inventing anything. They are recycling failures that already cost millions of lives. These tees are small, stubborn reminders: look back before you walk forward.
I am not here to lecture from a pedestal. I am here to put a difficult idea on cotton so a stranger on a bus might read it twice and maybe, just maybe, the idea will plant itself in their mind.
Why History
History is the accumulated record of every mistake we have already made as a species. It contains the full cost of every prejudice, every crusade, every pogrom, every preventable disaster. We have already paid for these lessons in lives. The least we can do is read them.
But people don’t. Not because they don’t care, but because history is presented as dates and names and places — when it should be presented as patterns. The same pattern, over and over: someone decides another group is less human, and the machinery of destruction grinds into motion. The slogans change. The mechanism doesn’t.
This project exists to put those patterns on cotton. To make the lesson wearable. To make the warning visible.
Core Values
These are mine personally. Because I am the brand, they are the brand’s too.
1. The message matters more than the money. Monetization is a necessary requirement, not the goal. I do not want to make more money than is necessary while I am actively involved in this venture.
2. I am the brand. My personal values are the brand’s values. When those change, the brand changes with them. As long as I am actively involved, this is non-negotiable.
3. Research is credited. Research is conducted by Perplexity AI and credited as such on every design page. It is never passed off as my own. The ideas behind every design are 100% human. I solely own the copyright of all output produced.
4. Free stays free. High-resolution downloads will always be free. No account, no upsell, no watermark. Printing partnerships exist to remove friction for people who want the shirt without printing it themselves, not to replace the free option.
5. Honesty over polish. If a guide hasn’t been personally tested yet, it says so. If research was done by AI, it says so. If I’m not sure about something, I say I’m not sure.
Maximum Awareness
The mission is not to sell shirts. The mission is maximum awareness of the messages from history. Every design that ends up on a chest — whether downloaded free, ordered through a printing partner, or bought on a marketplace — is a message carrier. The person wearing it might never read the research. The person who sees it on the street might.
This is why the designs offer multiple formats:
- Design with QR code — the QR code lets the curious stranger go straight to the research without needing to ask the wearer anything. Can go on the back of a single-sided design or alongside a second image.
- Design with gquixote.xyz link only — for those who want the message visible but prefer a simpler look. The link lets the reader look up the website directly, without having to interact with the wearer at all. The message speaks for itself.
- Design with no recognition — for those who want to carry the message purely. No QR code, no link, no artist credit. Just the design and whatever it says. The message doesn’t need a return address.
And because designs are flexible — some have a single thought-provoking image, some have an optional second directly-questioning image, and some stand alone — the wearer decides not just how much recognition to include, but how much of the conversation to carry on their shirt.
Critical Thinking
This project is not about telling people what to think. It is about making people think.
The designs are intentionally sharp. They are meant to provoke a reaction — discomfort, curiosity, anger, agreement, disagreement. All of those are fine. What is not fine is indifference. If a design makes someone pause for even two seconds before walking on, that is the mission working.
I also want to encourage people to be critical of themselves. The lessons from history are not just about other people’s failures. They are about the patterns we are all capable of falling into — prejudice, certainty, tribalism, the comfort of not questioning. If a shirt makes someone look at their own assumptions, that is the mission working twice over.
